How to Dress your figure!

Happy Hump day! I was all ready to upload my Target shoe post, but after my Instagram story wearing this figure flattering ruffled dress and all the questions I received, I knew this had to go up. I mean, who doesnt love a blue, white and ruffled dress?! This Shein dress is also under $35 dollars which makes it even better!! I am seriously kinda obsessed with it. This ruffled dress is also great for anyone with a boxy, or athletic physic!

Have you ever heard your mother say, “You need to try it on”. I used to hate when she would say that.  Many years later, I finally understand what she was talking about. This dress did very little off… actually, it kinda of scared me. But come to find out, I really dont know if I have ever had a dress that fit as perfectly as this one.

Im not someone who wears dresses that often. When I do, I usually have some where special to go, or someone special to impress (wink, wink, Brian).  So naturally, I want a dress that flatters my figure, and hits in all the right places. I definintly have a very rectangluar body shape, so it is important that I have something that defines the slimmest part of my waist. The belt on this dress helps to create a waist, giving me a more hourglass figure.

Length is also very important, it needs to hit on the proper place. Too short is just plain unflattering, and too long will give the illusion of shorter legs. Nobody wants that. The ruffled hem adds some nice volume to the bottom of the dress. When you have a rectangular figure like mine, your waist and thigh measurements are close in size. This extra volume on the skirt helps to change this. You always want to have dresses that cinch the waist and flare towards the bottom.

The combination of the ruffle hem and vertical stripes also creates some more junk in the truck, Hallelujah!! The ruffle sleeves add volume to the shoulders, making your waist once again look smaller in comparison. Our figure doesn’t usually have much in the upper half, so these sleeves help to add volume. Dresses to avoid for our figures are certainly the shift dress and long body hugging maxi’s.

If I haven’t convinced you by now how fabulous ths ruffled dress is, I probably cant! One of the most important things I have learned when it comes to fashion is learning how to dress for my figure.  If you cant spend hours in the gym creating the “perfect” body, the second best thing you can do is learn how to dress for the one you have.

Xo~
