Tomorrow is officially Valentine’s Day, and the 19th is our Anniversary! This month has so much meaning and love that I thought today was the perfect day for Brian to make his first appearance. Like every relationship, we have ups & down. However, most importantly we have a strong foundation, trust and a lot of sarcastic humor. I am clearly a goof and need someone who can handle my quirky-ness and dry humor.
I am pretty lucky. Brian is an amazing guy and we balance each other perfectly! I thought for this year’s Valentine’s Day post we would answer some questions about each other. Second, can we take a minute to acknowledge how amazing these pictures came out? I am so happy to have these images for years to come. They will certainly be making their way onto my gallery wall at the new house.
Q. What first attracted you to each other?
B. I frequently visited her old job and every time I would walk in she would smile at me. Her smile lit up the room. I thought she was the prettiest girl in the world.
G. His heart. I met Brian at the restaurant I used to work at. Every Saturday night he would take his elderly friend Pat in for dinner. Anyone who will give up their weekend night to drive an older friend to dinner is pretty amazing!
Q. What is one thing the other cannot live without?
B. Coffe, COFFEE, and more COFFEE! She is always making coffee, but she never finishes it!(drives me nuts)
G. His planner. He lives for that thing. Brian has his high school agenda book. Say WHAT??
Q. What is your favorite quality?
B. Her personality is amazing. She is calm and can mingle with anyone. However, she can hold her own and is getting better at sticking up for herself.
G. I love his passion. He takes pride in everything he does. If he wants something he works hard for it. He shows his love and passion every day for Mason & I.
Q. You are stuck on a desert island with 5 things, what are they? (excludes kids & pets)
B. Gretchen would bring her phone (even though she couldn’t charge it), concealer, coffee, robe, and toothbrush.
G. Brian would bring his planner, sweatpants, electrical tape, tool bag, and Contigo.
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve about each other?
B. Gretchen loves to procrastinate. She always waits until the last minute, and she is ALWAYS LATE! She can never get things done right away.
G. Brian is kinda a tight ass (am I allowed to say ass?). He is no bull when it comes to work, finances, and getting stuff done. It really works well bc I am the polar opposite, but it still drives me crazy…HAHA!
Q.Where do you see your relationship in 5 years?
B. I see us 9 years engaged (insert eye-roll). Why, because Gretchen is indecisive and procrastinates. We will have a golden doodle and hopefully, the new house will have furniture in it by then, Maybe!, (Insert Gretchen’s Indecisiveness again)!
G. Contrary to what Brian might think, I see us married with 2 more kids! We will also have our Golden Doodle.
Q. 3 words to describe the other?
B. Patient. Authentic. Passionate
G. Kind. Funny. Trustworthy.
Q. You stop at the grocery store. What 5 things does the other grab?
B. Peets coffee, ice cream, protein bars, snow peas, peppermint mocha creamer.
G. Italian ice, Wise potato chips, string cheese, cereal, and eggs.
Q. What helps to keep your relationship strong.
B. Making time for each other. We are both super busy all the time. So whenever we can we jump in the car and grab a coffee, or dinner. Even if it’s only an hour, it’s so important. Helping her with the blog pictures have helped because we need to work together, trust each other and communicate. These Valentine’s day pictures together we super fun, and a great bonding experience.
G. TRUST! I know that he will always be honest with me, even when it might be something I don’t want to hear. I trust him to always put our family first. I trust what he says, and know that what he says he will do.
Ok, guys! Hope you enjoyed this special Valentine’s post. So let’s celebrate all the love we have in our lives. Whether you are single or taken, I hope you grab yourself some chocolate, Champagne, a cheesy flick and enjoy your Valentine’s Day.
