Happy 2019 to all of you! Today on the blog I am sharing how to get organized for the year ahead! Is no red after Christmas some strange fashion rule like no white after labor day?? I hope not because I love this dress and pretty much anything that is helping to prolong the holiday feels! I’m sad to see Christmas go, but I am so excited for what the new year will bring. I mean, we had one heck of a year! Marriage, new home, and a new baby…WOW, WHAT A YEAR!
SHOP THE POST
Each year right after Christmas I spend this strange week of limbo to get organized for the year ahead! I organize my home, get rid of things I no longer use and set some goals. I love to look back at my goals I had set the previous year to see which ones I was able to achieve. Every year is a chance to grow and evolve and I absolutely love that. New year, New beginnings, New you…..I’ll be on time, I’ll be on time I’ll be on time!
ORGANIZE – To get organized pull everything out of all your closets, from under the beds, medicine cabinets, and anywhere else that accumulates junk. Cleaning out my car and bathroom cabinets which include my skincare and makeup are always the most daunting for me. I also try to organize my phone apps and my desk draws.
PURGE – If you need to think about whether or not you need/use something…chances are you don’t! I know there is always that fear of “one day I might need that” – you won’t! Clothes you don’t wear, makeup you don’t use, and if you have kids…toys they don’t play with. Certain things can be donated which is a great thing to do with the barely used items you don’t use or wear.
CLEAN – I know deep cleaning is something you love or hate. It depends on my mood. Do things like clean the couch, window sills, wipe down walls, clean out the pantry & fridge….and don’t forget about your makeup brushes. I know these are dreadful tasks – trust me (spent last weekend doing just this) but when you start the year off clean & organized the chances of it staying that way are much higher!
PLANNER – Get in the habit of making lists & planning your day. It is known that people who visually see what they need to do are much more likely to get it done! I personally prefer a planner that I write in as opposed to something on my phone. I use the Erin Condren planner and love it. I will do a blog post on how I plan my day soon.
SET GOALS – Goals, resolutions…whatever you call it it’s time to make some. I prefer goals over resolutions because a goal is something you work towards. This year I have quite a few and will also share those in a later post. Goals don’t have to be these big mountains you feel you need to climb. Maybe it’s something as small as drinking more water or to make your bed everyday. I usually include some small goals, along with some larger ones that I hope to work towards through the year!
I don’t know about you but I have a feeling this year is going to be amazing! Hope yours is off to a great start. I want to say a HUGE thank you to each and everyone of you for supporting me this past year. My plans for Living Life Pretty this year are BIG and I hope you follow along this journey!
