How to style plaid skirts for the cold weather

Who else is loving all the packages and goodies arriving at their door after black Friday and Cyber Monday? I sure am! If you stopped over to LLP you saw all the great sales that went on last weekend. I wasn’t one of those 4am shoppers in my pajamas. My shopping was done from my couch. One store I really made out at was Abercrombie & Fitch. They offered 50% off everything! Through out High school, Abercrombie was my favorite place to shop. It wasn’t until recently I noticed there clothing was appealing to an older audience. I mean come on, the smell alone…Brings me right back to High school!

This cold weather limits our options when it comes to clothes. How many days can you wear jeans or leggings? So when I saw this perfect plaid skirt I knew I had to have it. The print and material was perfect to wear this time of year. When styled correctly mini skirts are the perfect piece when you need to break out of your jean rut. Its all in how you style it. A mini skirt this time of year can look strange if you don’t follow a few simple tips. I have seen so many tweed,  wool, and totally trendy velvet skirts that look weather appropriate, and SUPER CUTE!

Tip 1: Make sure the material is winter appropriate. Wool, tweed, or leather are great for the cold weather. This skirt works great for the colder days for a few reasons ; The print, colors, and material.

Tip 2: Don’t show too much leg! You can fix this by wearing a high OTK boot, or dark tights with booties! I chose these great affordable OTK boots. You can still throw on tights if you feel more comfortable.  The weather so far this December has been pretty nice!

Tip 3: Balance is always key when you wear a mini skirt. A mini skirt can go from classy to trashy, Especially in the winter. The only way to make this look wearable in the winter is to be covered up EVERYWHERE else! Go for winter shades, and texture.

If you want to wear this at night, I would choose a long coat. It will once again help with balance, and warmth. Also, make sure you’re using texture, and cold weather materials.  Suede, velvet, faux fur, wool, and tweed are great winter fabrics.

If you haven’t  taken a look at Abercrombie lately, YOU SHOULD! I also found my dream coat that I will be posting later this week. You will not believe the price on this skirt either! Hope Everyone Has a great week. If your looking for a great alternative to jeans, this SKIRT is a must have. Thanks for stopping by Living Life Pretty!
