How has your week been so far? I’ve had all the best intentions to get my work done, but it just isn’t happening! It probably has something to do with all the online sales that have me shopping my heart away. Which has me thinking, do you buy white after labor day? White jeans are a true staple in my wardrobe. I wear them year-round, and no silly rule is going to stop me.
I love white! My closet is overflowing with it and my home is too. Along with many spaghetti sauce stains and grape juice from my 6-year-old. Learned this the hard way, unfortunately. However, when it comes to rocking white after Labor Day when my wardrobe is concerned I’m all about it. There are definitely some rules to follow that makes it easier for white to be worn during the fall & winter months(click here).
For this look, the white jeans work because I added texture in the sweater, along with a leopard clutch. Texture helps to make the white more season appropriate. Sometimes you purchase a piece of clothing and you just know you are going to live in it. This $40 sweater from Nordstrom is one of those pieces. I love the bell sleeve detail and the gorgeous dusty pink color keeps finding its way to my closet.
This time of the year we are pulling out velvet, suede and chunky knits. Fabrics like these are perfect for pairing with white after Labor Day. Marigold yellow velvet and white is one of my favorite combinations this fall. The right material can make any white look totally work.
Do you love prints? As I mentioned earlier the leopard print helps. Leopard is my go-to fall print, actually, I love leopard all year around! If you’re planning on wearing a print make sure it doesn’t play too soft or feminine. Prints like these can easily make you look like you’re ready for spring. Try sticking with dark florals, darker prints, and deeper colors.
For years I would never have dreamed of wearing white after labor day. My mother instilled this in me at a very young age. Actually, she still comments everytime I do. As long as you pay attention to how your pairing things it’s a total DO in my book. Just make sure to focus on darker prints, proper fabric, different textures, have fun, and layer! Layering is great for soft girls like me who always keep it neutral.
Seriously, I wonder who made this rule? It was probably a guy with no interest in fashion. Needless to say, no one wants to be a fashion- DONT! Follow these simple tips and you will be rocking your white after labor day like a pro. Have fun, and dress how you feel confident. Anyone can be fashionable, but not everyone can have STYLE!
